Hola friends of Simplyroads,
Only yesterday I returned from Spain, and tomorrow I’m already setting off on a new European adventure. But today, I’m not missing the chance to get back on my bike. I meet up with my friends and off we go: we’re wrapped in a light mist, the air filled with the scent of damp earth and wood. We decide to ride through the woods around Conco, taking the opportunity to stop by and greet our friends at the “Antico Borgo Brunelli” hotel diffuso.
We make the most of Cecilia and Sandro’s hospitality — they are the guardians of this place, which is far more than just a hotel — and we sit down for a chat over a cup of coffee.
Outside, the mist comes and goes. We settle near a window in what used to be the old stable. Today, lovingly restored following eco-sustainability principles, this room is now a cosy reception and breakfast area.
Their words perfectly capture the spirit of the place.
“We chose not to change anything,” Cecilia explains. “The beams are original, and the stones still echo the voices of those who once lived here. Every room has its own name — and its own soul.”
Sandro smiles. “And then there’s the silence. Not the empty kind, but the kind that fills you. Our guests feel it straight away. They arrive tired, sit down here, and just breathe in this place suspended in the warmth of an atmosphere we try to make as homely as possible.”
In a world that rushes by, there are places where everything slows down. Time begins again to follow the rhythm of your breath.
The simplyroads.com project was born from the very idea that every route has a story to tell.
Across Lusiana Conco and the other six municipalities of the Asiago Plateau, paths weave together tales of effort, discovery, and freedom.
Cecilia and Sandro told us that the area is becoming increasingly equipped to welcome tourists and cyclists alike. They mentioned that work on the Santa Caterina hostel is now nearing completion.
Once we’ve finished our coffee, we invite Sandro and Cecilia to join us on our ride, but unfortunately, they’re busy welcoming new guests. After a warm farewell, we set off again.
Even though the day remains grey, the colours of the autumn foliage make us appreciate every single metre of the trail. Through slightly slippery single tracks and fast gravel roads, we head towards Val Biancoia, from where an easy descent leads us back home.
After this intense ride, I say goodbye to my friends and hurry to pack my bag for the new French adventure ahead.

Hola amici di simplyroads,
Solo ieri sono rientrato dalla Spagna e già domani riparto per una nuova avventura europea. Ma oggi non perdo l’occasione per salire in sella alla mia bici. Mi incontro con gli amici e partiamo: siamo avvolti da una leggera nebbia, l’aria profuma di terra bagnata e legno. Decidiamo di percorrere i boschi attorno a Conco e cogliamo così l’occasione per passare a salutare gli amici dell’albergo diffuso “Antico Borgo Brunelli”.
Approfittiamo dell’ospitalità di Cecilia e Sandro, custodi di questo luogo che è più di un albergo, per scambiare due chiacchiere davanti a un caffè.
Mentre fuori la nebbia va e viene, ci sediamo vicino ad una finestra di quella che fu l’antica stalla. Oggi questa stanza, ristrutturata con amore e secondo i principi dell’ecosostenibilità, e’ un’accogliente reception e sala breakfast.
Le loro parole raccontano bene lo spirito del posto.
“Abbiamo scelto di non stravolgere nulla” spiega Cecilia. “Le travi sono quelle originali, le pietre raccontano ancora le voci di chi ci ha vissuto. Ogni stanza ha un nome, ma anche un’anima.”
Sandro sorride: “E poi c’è il silenzio. Non quello vuoto, ma quello che ti riempie. I nostri ospiti lo percepiscono subito. Arrivano stanchi, siedono qui, e restano a respirare in questo posto sospeso nel calore di un’atmosfera che cerchiamo di rendere il più possibile familiare”.
In un mondo che corre, ci sono luoghi dove tutto rallenta. Il tempo riprende il ritmo del respiro.
Il progetto simplyroads.com nasce proprio dall’idea che ogni percorso racconti qualcosa.
Tra Lusiana Conco, e gli altri sei comuni dell’Altopiano, i sentieri si intrecciano a storie di fatica, scoperta e libertà.
Cecilia e Sandro ci hanno raccontato che il territorio si sta sempre più attrezzando per accogliere turisti e bikers. A questo proposito ci dicono che si stanno ultimando i lavori per l’ostello di santa Caterina.
Finito il caffé invitiamo Sandro e Cecilia a unirsi a noi nel tour ma purtroppo sono trattenuti dall’arrivo di alcuni clienti. E così dopo un caldo saluto si riparte. Anche se la giornata rimane uggiosa, i colori del foliage autunnale ci fanno apprezzare ogni singolo metro del percorso. Attraverso single track un po’ scivolosi e veloci strade bianche ci portiamo verso la Val Biancoia e da dove una tranquilla discesa ci porta fino a casa.
Dopo questa intensa pedalata saluto gli amici e corro a preparare la valigia per la nuova esperienza francese. Mi raccomando, rimanete sintonizzati perchè vi racconterò anche di questa.
