A journey through walled villages, fortresses and timeless landscapes in the heart of Veneto
An MTB or gravel itinerary that connects some of the most charming villages and towns of Veneto along a smooth and varied route, between history and nature.
From medieval walls to rolling hills and back along the Brenta River, each stage tells a piece of the territory, to be experienced at the rhythm of pedaling.
Marostica: the city of chess
We start from Marostica, after a good breakfast in the town center and the briefing. In this town in 1454, two young men fell in love with the beautiful Lionora and decided to challenge each other to a duel…but was it a real duel?
Asolo: From Eleonora Duse to Caterina Cornaro
After leaving Marostica and passing through Bassano del Grappa, an Ezzelino city at the gateway to the Valsugana, we find ourselves in a hilly area and reach Asolo, the city of a hundred horizons.
A town famous for the castle of Queen Cornaro, Queen of Cyprus and Jerusalem between the 1400s and 1500s, who made Asolo one of the most beautiful villages in Italy. Another important female figure lived in Asolo: the famous Italian actress Eleonora Duse, an icon of modern theatre and muse of Gabriele D’Annunzio.
After a break in this charming village, we resume our ride along the Muson River on a cycle path immersed in the Venetian plain, among fields and refreshing groves.
Castelfranco Veneto and Cittadella
We arrive at the fortified town of Castelfranco, where we will stop to eat some typical specialties and admire the imposing walls of this town, birthplace of Giorgione, one of the greatest exponents of the Venetian Renaissance.
We set off again towards Cittadella, another walled city, and it is right on those walls that we will walk and admire the town from a unique perspective.
The return
The return follows the Brenta River, crossing the Brenta Natural Park, where the landscape changes completely.
The route runs through sections immersed in nature, with shaded single tracks and flowing trails, accompanied by the constant sound of water. A relaxing and engaging finale, perfect to end the tour away from traffic until reaching Marostica again, where a farewell toast awaits us.
