Good morning to all our friends of simplyroads.com.

At the end of August, with races and training sessions once again added to our outings with the Akira06 AdvenTour groups, we haven’t had much time to tell you about new tours.

However, before our next experience in Cantabria, we would like to say goodbye with one last cycling story about our beautiful Altopiano dei 7 Comuni (Plateau of the Seven Municipalities).

No complicated plans, just the desire to cycle along one of the most iconic routes on the Asiago Plateau. No asphalt, or almost none, just trails and dirt roads: the perfect environment for those looking for distance, honest elevation gains, and memorable landscapes.

We set off from Campomulo, near Gallio, in the direction of Melette and Piana di Marcesina. The morning is cool and the trail leads us through dense woods and open clearings. Fortunately, some of these woods were not affected by Storm Vaia. The atmosphere is typical of the plateau: quiet, rarefied, essential. We cycle without haste, letting the terrain dictate the pace.

After the first few kilometers, we reach the Valmaron Refuge, a useful landmark for a short break. Here, the view opens up, the direction is clear, and the route runs fast, between compact dirt roads and slight ups and downs.

Wide grasslands, scattered mountain huts, a few cows still grazing, enjoying their last days on the mountain pastures before the transhumance. There are no surprises, but it confirms that you are in a place frozen in time, which you can gently pass through.

The furthest point of the tour is Barricata: this is where another world began, the Habsburg world, now the extreme edge of Trentino.

And it is here that we find one of the works dedicated to the storm that marked these territories in 2018: the imposing and majestic Aquila di Vaia (Eagle of Vaia).

A short break at the Barricata Refuge and then we begin our return journey.

The road continues to offer a good pace: we climb and descend without any sudden changes in gradient, the landscape accompanies us without ever tiring us, and we arrive at Mandrielle. We continue briskly towards Campomuletto and, chatting, we complete the loop by returning to Campomulo, where a nice cold beer awaits us to enjoy at our leisure while we share our emotions and sensations.

No records to beat, no extreme difficulties. Just a nice ride at high altitude, where MTBs find their natural habitat and cyclists can focus on what matters: the line of the trail, the sound of wheels on gravel, the fresh air even in August, and the whole world around us.

Well, we’ll say goodbye for now, friends, but simplyroads will certainly not be stopping. We’ll be exploring new trails in northern Spain, acquiring new skills, and telling you all about our new experiences.

In questo fine agosto, dove si sono sommate nuovamente le gare e gli allenamenti alle uscite con i gruppi di Akira06 AdvenTour, non abbiamo avuto molto spazio per raccontarvi nuovi tour.

Tuttavia vogliamo salutarvi, prima della nostra prossima esperienza in Cantabria, con un ultimo racconto in bici sul nostro bellissimo Altopiano dei 7 Comuni.

Nessun piano complicato, solo voglia di pedalare su uno dei percorsi più iconici dell’Altopiano di Asiago. Niente asfalto o quasi, solo sentieri e strade bianche: l’ambiente giusto per chi cerca distanze, dislivelli onesti e paesaggi che sanno farsi ricordare.

Partiamo da Campomulo, nelle vicinanze di Gallio, in direzione delle Melette e della Piana di Marcesina. La mattinata è fresca e la traccia ci conduce fra boschi fitti e radure aperte. Alcuni di questi boschi, fortunatamente, non hanno subito la tempesta Vaia. L’atmosfera è quella tipica dell’altopiano: silenziosa, rarefatta, essenziale. Si pedala senza fretta, lasciando che sia il terreno a dettare il ritmo.

Dopo i primi chilometri raggiungiamo il Rifugio Valmaron, punto di riferimento utile per una breve pausa. Qui la vista si apre, la direzione è chiara e il percorso fila veloce, tra sterrato compatto e leggeri saliscendi.

Ampie praterie, malghe sparse, ancora qualche mucca al pascolo che si gusta gli ultimi giorni di alpeggio prima della transumanza. Non ci sono sorprese, ma è la conferma di essere in un posto fermo nel tempo che si lascia attraversare dolcemente.

Il punto più lontano del giro è Barricata: lì iniziava un altro mondo, quello asburgico, oggi lembo estremo del Trentino.

Ed è sempre lì che troviamo una delle opere dedicate alla tempesta che ha segnato questi territori nel 2018: l’imponente e maestosa Aquila di Vaia.

Una piccola pausa al Rifugio Barricata e poi iniziamo il ritorno.

La strada continua a offrire un buon ritmo: si sale e si scende senza strappi violenti, il paesaggio accompagna senza mai stancare ed arriviamo a Mandrielle. Proseguiamo spediti verso Campomuletto e, chiacchierando, concludiamo l’anello tornando verso Campomulo dove ci attende una bella birra fresca da gustare con calma mentre ci raccontiamo le nostre emozioni e sensazioni.

Nessun record da battere, nessuna difficoltà estrema. Solo un bel giro in quota, dove la MTB trova il suo spazio naturale e chi pedala può concentrarsi su ciò che conta: la linea del sentiero, il suono delle ruote sulla ghiaia, l’aria fresca anche ad agosto e tutto il mondo che ci circonda.

Bene, adesso vi salutiamo amici, ma simplyroads non si fermerà certamente. Percorreremo nuovi sentieri nel nord della Spagna, acquisiremo nuove skill e vi racconteremo nuove esperienze.
